About Coach Ron Calcagni
The Arkansas Storm proudly welcomes Ron Calcagni as our new Head Coach. A legendary figure in Arkansas football history, Coach Calcagni brings decades of experience, leadership, and a championship mentality to the Storm.
A former quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks (1975-1978), Calcagni is best known for leading the Hogs to victory in the 1978 Orange Bowl against #2 Oklahoma—one of the greatest upsets in college football history. His outstanding collegiate career includes a 25–4–2 record, making him the second-winningest quarterback in Razorbacks history. He also guided Arkansas to a Cotton Bowl victory over Georgia and a Fiesta Bowl tie with UCLA, playing alongside Razorback greats like Dan Hampton, Ben Cowins, and Steve Little.
After college, Calcagni played professionally in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Rough Riders before transitioning into coaching. His coaching career has included stops at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, and Houston, where he mentored quarterbacks and receivers at the highest levels of the game.
A 2009 inductee into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor and a 2015 Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Calcagni is no stranger to building winning programs. His commitment to developing athletes, fostering a championship culture, and bringing out the best in his players makes him the perfect leader for the Arkansas Storm.
